I was born in London and brought up in nearby Essex. I then spent ten years living in Sierra Leone when my parents returned to their homeland after studying in Britain. I returned to Britain to study Chemistry at Aberdeen University, working in IT for a number of years before training to be a Blue Badge guide. I have lived in Brixton for nearly 30 years with my wife and two children. I sing in a soul band in my spare time, but never sing while on tours!
I have been a Blue Badge tourist guide since 2010, which means that I am a professional guide accredited by the Institute of Tourist Guiding. Although based in London, I have a wealth of experience in running coach tours to such diverse and wonderful places as Bath, Stonehenge, Leeds Castle, Stratford-upon-Avon, the cathedral cities of Canterbury and Salisbury, and the university towns of Oxford and Cambridge.
I have also helped many people to explore and enjoy London by showing off our famous landmarks such as the Tower of London and St Paul’s Cathedral; together we delve into their history and hidden secrets. I am happy to guide a tailor-made tour especially for you or your group.
As one of very few Blue Badge guides from an African heritage, I also do specialist guided tours looking at London from a black perspective, by visiting related sites on walks and tours. For example, I can take you on a walk in central London which highlights the influence of black people within the city, and Britain’s involvement in the slave trade. A walk through Brixton also reveals much about this culturally-rich area.
I offer a wide range of guided tours including black heritage and African history walks. To find out more about my tours, click here.
